Billy Autumn (Smartie) is a 16.1 hand, 13 year old mare. She was bred by The
Billy Stud in the United Kingdom and previously competed with British rider
William Funnell.
Since her arrival in Canada in 2005, she has competed very successfully in
Western Canada placing 1st or 2nd in every major Grand Prix from Manitoba to
Vancouver. She was the winner of the 2007 Chrysler Car Award, the 2008
Talent Squad Award and the 2008 Kubota Cup Grand Prix Circuit. She has also
competed in International competition to the 1.50m level.
Her sire, Animo, is an elite Dutch stallion with a lifetime approval from
the KWPN. He competed successfully in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and has
produced many exceptional horses competing in show jumping. Michael Whitaker
once pronounced that Animo was the best show jumping stallion in Europe.
Smartie's dam is sired by the famous Irish stallion, Clover Hil. He is
thought by many to be the most highly regarded International sire that
Ireland has ever produced. Although he died in 1997, his legacy still
continues in show jumping arenas worldwide. Most notably, he was the sire of
Eric Lamazešs great jumper, Cagney.
Billy Autumn is already proven in the breeding world. She is the dam of the
approved stallion, Billy Congo, currently standing in the United Kingdom.
Recently, Billy Congo has qualified for the 2010 British Open Championships,
was 3rd in the Elite Grand Prix at Scope, and jumped two clear rounds in the
QE II Cup at Hickstead.
Billy Autumn is part of our Embryo Transfer program as she is currently
competing in sport.
